In a dramatic and historic turn of events, South Korea’s major broadcasters — KBS, MBC, and SBS — have unanimously declared Lee Jae Myung of the Democratic Party as the winner of the country’s 21st presidential election.

The announcement came just three and a half hours after polls closed, at approximately 11:40 PM, marking one of the fastest and most decisive victories in the nation's electoral history.

This extraordinary election was held under the shadow of emergency martial law and followed the unprecedented dismissal of former President Yoon Seok Yeol, making it only the second early presidential election in South Korea’s modern era.

According to exit polls released at 8 PM, Lee Jae Myung surged ahead with 51.7% of the vote, beating his nearest challenger, Kim Moon Soo of the People Power Party, by a wide 12.4-point margin. Kim secured just 39.3%, solidifying Lee’s strong mandate for leadership.

The results signal a resounding call from the public for change, marking the end of a turbulent chapter in South Korean politics — and the beginning of a new era under Lee’s leadership.
