BTS’s SUGA Donates ₩5 Billion to Launch Autism Treatment Center in His Name

BTS’s SUGA has once again proven that his impact goes far beyond music. On June 23, Severance Hospital announced a groundbreaking collaboration with the global superstar to open a dedicated treatment center for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Named the Min Yoongi Treatment Center , the facility will focus on long-term, personalized care — blending clinical therapy with cutting-edge research — and officially broke ground at Jejungwon Hall that same day. What sets this initiative apart isn't just the ₩5 billion (approximately $3.6 million USD) donation — the largest ever by an artist to Severance or Yonsei Medical Center — but the heart and hands-on involvement behind it. Music with a Mission SUGA has long been known for his philanthropic spirit and advocacy for mental health, particularly among youth. Kim Jung Hyun Breaks Silence on Past Controversy: “I Felt Wronged and Deeply Ashamed”

In a rare and revealing television appearance, acclaimed South Korean actor Kim Jung Hyun has spoken publicly about the controversy that once engulfed his career, addressing the emotional weight of the past and his journey toward personal growth.

During the June 13 episode of KBS2’s popular variety program Heart on Wheels, Kim joined host Shin Dong Yup in an intimate conversation that offered viewers a rare glimpse into the actor’s inner world. When Shin remarked, “There are times when you feel so broken that you don’t have the strength to get back up,” Kim responded with quiet candor:

“Honestly, I don’t think I’ve been through anything that difficult. There were no hardships. But at the time, I did feel wronged, deeply ashamed—there were definitely a lot of emotions.”

Reflecting on the turbulent period, Kim added,

“As time passed, I realized there was nothing truly difficult about it. What remained was just a matter of life or death. If I keep holding on to those difficult times, then things will always feel hard. I’m not denying what happened, but by living as if nothing difficult ever happened, I find myself meeting better people and becoming healthier.”

The actor’s comments come more than two years after he faced intense public scrutiny in 2021 amid allegations that he had been emotionally manipulated by actress Seo Ye Ji, his then-girlfriend. The controversy centered on his reportedly uncharacteristic and withdrawn behavior during the press tour for the television drama Time. At the time, Kim was sharply criticized for appearing disengaged and cold, particularly during a widely publicized press event where he declined to link arms with co-star Seohyun—a moment that sparked widespread backlash and earned him the derisive moniker “Kim Ddak Ddak” (a reference to his stiff demeanor).

Despite the damage to his reputation, Kim has largely remained silent—until now. His appearance on Heart on Wheels marks a turning point, not only in his public narrative but also in his personal journey. His remarks suggest a man who has chosen resilience over regret and is determined to rebuild both his career and his sense of self.

Heart on Wheels airs every Friday at 10 PM KST on KBS2, offering viewers heartfelt conversations and a deeper look into the lives of its celebrity guests.
